Who operates this site
Horseshoe Throwdown is operated by Horseshoe Throwdown. You can contact the operator through the privacy request form.
Information we use
When you create an account, we process your email address, user ID, public screen name, authentication status and preferences. Supabase handles password hashing, email confirmation, account recovery and optional two-step verification. The game does not store your password.
We retain published chat messages, timestamps, reports, support requests and records of email preferences. Security controls use limited request information, including hashed network identifiers and expiring attempt counters. Hosting and service providers may keep operational and security logs.
Game preferences and saved local statistics may be stored in your browser. Online match records and guest seats are stored on the server so online play can work.
What other players can see
Chat messages, your screen name and player tag are public. A typing indicator shows activity, never the text of an unsent draft. Your account email and sign-in credentials are not included in public chat responses. Names and states you put on a pitcher are visible during play.
Services that help run the game
ChatGPT Sites hosts the website and server data. Supabase provides authentication. Resend delivers account email. Submitted messages and public screen names are sent to OpenAI for automated safety screening. Each provider processes relevant information to supply these services under its applicable terms and policies.
Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where these providers operate. We do not sell account email lists.
Email is your choice
Account confirmation and recovery messages are necessary to provide your account. Marketing is a separate, optional choice. You can change it in Account → Email preferences, or use the unsubscribe link in a marketing message. Creating an account alone does not subscribe you.
Cookies and browser storage
Essential session cookies keep you signed in and associate you with an online guest seat. Browser storage remembers device settings and local game statistics. This release does not add advertising or third-party analytics trackers.
Retention and your choices
Account information is retained while your account is active. Chat messages remain until removed by you through account deletion or by moderation. Expired sessions and attempt counters are removed during subsequent service activity. Reports and support requests are retained to resolve issues and document safety decisions.
You may request access, correction or deletion through Contact. Account deletion removes local account details, your subscription and your chat content; provider deletion is retried if temporarily unavailable. Limited non-identifying security records and provider backups may remain according to their retention processes. Rights vary by location.
Public tournament records
Account-linked tournament results display your screen name, ranking, ringer percentage, ringers and shoes, tournament finish, tournament dates, and lifetime tournament game wins and losses publicly. Your email, user ID and age answer are not part of rankings. Only completed tournaments from the past year count toward your current percentage. Tournament game wins and losses are retained for the lifetime of your account, even after those tournaments leave the one-year rankings. All-time RECORDS also publicly display lifetime tournament achievements, ringer strings, Four Deads and longest games, with both screen names for shared game records. These records and their tournament dates do not expire after one year. Deleting your account removes its ranking and lifetime game records. Use a screen name that does not reveal private information.
Young players
Accounts are currently available to people age 13 or older; sending Pit Chat messages requires age 18 or older, or any higher age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect account information from children under 13. We ask age-range questions before account registration and retain your 18-or-older answer and the time it was saved, not a birth date. This answer is self-reported, not verified age. You can update it in Account & security. Under-13 account registration remains unavailable until a verified parental-consent process and children’s privacy review are in place. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
Changes
We will update this notice when the service’s data practices change. The effective date above identifies this version.
